Phoenix

Rising from the center of the Houoh Stairs, the entrance reserved for guests of ESPACIO Nagoya Castle, this monumental work evokes the outstretched wings of the Houoh, the mythical phoenix. Although monumental in scale, the sculpture conveys a striking sense of movement, as though capturing the very instant the bird descends from the sky. This remarkable dynamism is achieved through the subtle angles and irregular arrangement of each feather, together with softly diffused reflections that animate its surface.
