The Art Collection is a guest suite in which six artists each created a distinct spatial experience. Displayed in the bedroom is a sculpture by Tomoya Tachibana. With an emphasis on its relationship to the surrounding space, the form is reduced to its essential simplicity. As the artist explains, the work seeks to express the lingering atmosphere that remains after reducing the mythical phoenix to its essence.
Tomoya Tachibana
Tachibana completed the Master's Program in Metalwork at Tokyo University of the Arts in 1999. He subsequently established Studio Tachibana. Focusing on commissioned projects in Japan and abroad, he creates spaces that evoke emotional responses through the thoughtful combination of materials and techniques suited to each setting.
