Phoenix
This work by sculptor Tomoya Tachibana transforms inorganic metal into organic forms. Although titled Phoenix, it does not simply depict the mythical phoenix. Instead, it embraces the surrounding trees, vegetation, and flowing water as integral elements of its expression. Installed beside the window of the "Takumi" bedroom at ESPACIO The Hakone Geihinkan Rin-Poh-Ki-Ryu, the sculpture reveals new dimensions when experienced together with the landscape beyond the glass, evoking a vivid sense of life.
Tomoya Tachibana
Tachibana completed the Master's Program in Metalwork at Tokyo University of the Arts in 1999. He subsequently established Studio Tachibana. Focusing on commissioned projects in Japan and abroad, he creates spaces that evoke emotional responses through the thoughtful combination of materials and techniques suited to each setting.
