Rin-seki
Inspired by the traces left by the mythical kirin, an auspicious creature long depicted in traditional fusuma paintings, this relief transforms an ancient motif into a contemporary sculptural expression. The layered lines evoke the image of the kirin at play, interweaving gracefully before gradually converging into a single circular form. Through this quiet rhythm of movement and unity, the work suggests both the vitality of the mythical beast and the harmony it represents.
Takeharu Nakabayashi
Born in Kanagawa, Japan, in 1974. Nakabayashi completed the Master's Program in Art and Design at Musashino Art University in 1999. He received the Musashino Art University Iida Mitsumi Award and the Encouragement Award at the 16th Kashima Sculpture Competition. Working with a wide range of metals, he creates works spanning abstract reliefs to figurative sculpture. His works have been installed in both Japan and overseas, including Palace Hotel Tokyo and Mandarin Oriental Pudong, Shanghai.
