Shidarezakura - Weeping Cherry Tree
Part of a series of paintings on gold leaf that change with the seasons, this work celebrates the weeping cherry tree, renowned for its longevity. It brings together the artist's enduring dedication to depicting cherry blossoms with the hope that Japan's seasonal beauty will continue to be cherished and passed down through generations. At the same time, it conveys the vitality and graceful beauty of the shidarezakura.
Kiwako Suzuki
Born in Tokyo in 1957, Suzuki graduated from the Department of Japanese Painting at Tokyo University of the Arts in 1984 and completed the Graduate School's Conservation and Restoration Program in 1987. Since 2025, she has been a member of the Japan Art Institute. She has held numerous solo exhibitions and participated in many group exhibitions. Her works are included in the collections of Tokyo University of the Arts, the Yamagata Museum of Art, the Narukawa Art Museum (Kanagawa), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and other institutions.
