Layers of Time
Layers of Time evokes the accumulation of time through layered earth. The careful selection of natural materials and the meticulous craftsmanship unique to a master plasterer suggest the uneven passage of time and the individual journeys that shape each life.
Shuhei Hasado
Born in Gifu Prefecture in 1962 into a family of plasterers, Hasado won first prize in the Plastering Division of the National Skills Competition in 1983. In 2001, he established Shokuninsha Shuheigumi. Drawing on the expressive qualities and colors of natural materials, he creates walls that tell stories. His projects include The Peninsula Tokyo, Aman Tokyo, and the JAL International First Class Lounge at Haneda Airport.
