Accumulated Time
A series of works quietly installed throughout the guest rooms, Accumulated Time is cast in bronze to evoke rhythmically layered folds of cloth and sheets of paper. The rich colors and intricate surface patterns arise from the natural patina unique to bronze. As the artist explains, "The layers of time inscribed upon the metal intertwine with the memories of the land of Nagoya.
Tsuyoshi Ueda
Born in Nara, Japan, in 1986. Ueda graduated from the Department of Crafts at Kanazawa College of Art in 2010 and completed the Master's Program in Metalwork at Tokyo University of the Arts in 2012. He is a lecturer in the Metalwork Course of the Department of Crafts at Kanazawa College of Art. He was selected for the International Crafts Award Toyama in 2021 and received the Grand Prize at the 38th Tamsui Okan Award in 2022. His works are held in the collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum.
