Awaken
The shibori technique gradually shapes copper sheet into three-dimensional forms through repeated hammering. Using this traditional method, Eiko Miki creates organic sculptures that convey a vivid sense of life. Inspired by recurring forms found in nature, Awaken explores the enduring relationship between humanity and the natural world.
Eiko Miki
Born in Chiba, Japan, in 1986. Miki graduated from the Department of Metalwork, Faculty of Fine Arts, Tokyo University of the Arts in 2012. In 2013, she studied at Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle in Germany. She completed the Master's Program in Metalwork at Tokyo University of the Arts in 2015. In 2023, she held the solo exhibition The Wind's Motion Resonates. In 2024, she received the Ichikawa City Cultural Promotion Foundation Arts and Culture Encouragement Award.
