Dazzling
Created through the art of kumiko, this work depicts cherry blossoms and Mount Fuji. Long regarded as a source of spiritual devotion and aesthetic inspiration, Mount Fuji can be seen from many points throughout Hakone. Here, however, it is not presented as a distant landmark, but as a motif that brings the spirit of Hakone—and, by extension, the Japanese landscape—into the space. Together with the cherry blossoms, it evokes memories and a quiet longing for the beauty and transience of spring.
Masanobu Shiozawa
Born in Iida, Nagano Prefecture, in 1973, Shiozawa exhibited at the National Joinery Exhibition in 2001, becoming the youngest recipient of the Prime Minister's Award. In 2013, he was selected for the Nitten (Japan Fine Arts Exhibition) for the first time. He regularly holds solo exhibitions at the Ginza Mikimoto Main Store in Tokyo and at leading department stores throughout Japan. In 2019, he received the Contemporary Crafts Award at the Japan Contemporary Crafts Art Exhibition.
