KEISHO – Blessing Flight
Located at the far end of the fourth floor of ESPACIO Nagoya Castle, Japanese Restaurant JO welcomes guests with a dreamlike work that blurs the boundary between a folding screen and a window. Depicting an otherworldly scene on glass, the work features lilies—the official flower of Nagoya—set among clouds rendered in genuine gold leaf. Originally created to commemorate the beginning of the restoration of Nagoya Castle’s Honmaru Palace and the 400th anniversary of the city’s founding, the work serves as a symbolic gateway into the restaurant.
Mitsuko Fujita
Born in Kyoto in 1964, she studied under Eri Sayoko, holder of Important Intangible Cultural Property, Kirikane. Her decorative boxes have earned her the Japan Crafts Association Encouragement Award at the 2023 Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition, among other honors.
