Origin
Origin is a stoneware work created through high-temperature firing without glaze. Using clay sourced from Izumo, where the artist spent his formative years, the work was formed using the traditional coil-building technique and fired twice over a total of approximately 50 hours. This process brings out the expressive qualities and inherent character of the clay itself.
Ken Mihara
Born in 1972 in Awaji City, Hyogo Prefecture, Mihara was born into a family of plasterers spanning several generations and began handling a trowel at the age of three. After completing his apprenticeship, he established his independent practice at the age of 23. His work ranges from the restoration of historic architecture to commercial facilities, educational institutions, and private residences. Alongside his architectural practice, he also explores artistic expression through solo exhibitions.
