LINEGRAPHY — Retsu (Passion)
The title LINEGRAPHY refers to a visual language formed through the accumulation of lines. Viewing individual calligraphic brushstrokes as elements of a collage, the artist reconstructs them into a new visual composition. As the title Retsu suggests, the work expresses the fearless spirit of a warrior through dynamic lines that intertwine and resonate with one another.
Gen Miyamura
Born in Shizuoka Prefecture in 1980. An ink artist. From abstract works that are digital collages of calligraphy lines to contemporary works that take linguistic symbols (systems) as subject matter, he pursues expressions that boldly interpret calligraphy from a modern perspective.
