The oracle-bone script form of the character for Houoh (鳳) is rendered using a roller to spread ink across a cement surface. Yet the Houoh itself never appears directly. Only the suggestion of its presence quietly lingers in the space. The bold strokes dissolve rather than remain, leaving a lingering impression. Their movement evokes the invisible passage of time—the flow of nature, moments of stillness, and fleeting instants that quietly unfold.
Sennyo Endo
Calligrapher and artist. Having studied calligraphy from an early age, Endo has continually explored its expressive possibilities beyond the writing of fixed character forms. By incorporating approaches from other artistic disciplines, she has developed a distinctive visual language that expands the boundaries of traditional calligraphy. Her works have been commissioned by Ginza Mitsuwa, the Grand Hyatt Tokyo Grand Club, and Trusco Resort & Spa Hakone, among others. She is a member of the Avant-Garde Division of the Mainichi Calligraphy Exhibition.
