Reflections on the Garden
Inspired by the tradition of Chinese gardens, created in reverence for nature, these works explore landscapes where reality and imagination gently converge. Drawing on a garden culture that artfully recreates mountains, water, and natural scenery by human hands, the artist evokes a timeless world that seems to transcend time and space, enriching the surrounding atmosphere with quiet depth.
Miao Tong
Born in Xi'an, China, in 1968, Miao Tong graduated from the Xi'an Academy of Fine Arts in 1989 and completed the Master's Program in Japanese Painting at the Graduate School of Fine Arts, Kyoto City University of Arts, in 2003. She is currently based in Shanghai, where she continues her artistic practice, and serves as Associate Professor at the Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts, Shanghai University. Specializing in Japanese-style painting using mineral pigments, she has participated in numerous exhibitions, including the Soga Exhibition (Tokyo and Kyoto, 2002), the Silk Road International Art Invitation Exhibition, where she received the Excellence Award (Xi'an, 2017), and the Shanghai Art Exhibition (Shanghai, 2021).
