Running Water and Pine

Displayed in the banquet entrance hall leading to THE GARDEN LOUNGE and the celebration venue, this work combines the pine tree, which is considered an auspicious tree in the hearts of Japanese people, the waterfalls depicted in Nagoya Castle, and the soaring birds. According to the artist, he was conscious of “carving eternal time through the four seasons.” It is also said that the reason why pine trees began to be depicted on sliding doors and folding screens was because Zeami liked to draw pine trees on Noh stages.
