Dragon
Upon entering the Restaurant Lobby on the fourth floor of ESPACIO Nagoya Castle, guests are welcomed into a serene world of soft white light. Overhead, a dragon created through plaster and trowel techniques extends gracefully across the space as though embracing it. Its weightless form reinterprets the dragon—a timeless symbol of strength—with remarkable lightness, creating an atmosphere of brightness and calm, as though freed from gravity.
Naoki Kusumi
Born in Shimane Prefecture in 1958, Kusumi received the Grand Prize at the Chanoyu Art Exhibition. He later studied in Italy through the inaugural Kikuchi Foundation Overseas Research Grant and was awarded Second Prize at the 1st Paramita Ceramics Award Exhibition. In 2007, he received the Japan Ceramic Society Award. He also published the monograph Memories of Earth (Suiryudo). His works are held in the collections of approximately 40 museums, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Victoria and Albert Museum.
