Qilin
This work portrays Shōkō, a blue qilin. By bringing together auspicious mythical beings—believed to appear in times of peace—with enduring motifs from nature, such as bamboo and flowing water, the artist creates a world that is at once symbolic and vividly real.
Noriaki Onuma
Born in Ishikawa Prefecture in 1954, Onuma has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions, including the 70th Anniversary Special Exhibition of the Kyoto Japanese Painting Association, Yesterday, Kyoto, Tomorrow (2011), and Future Scenery: Temples, Art, Prayer (2019–2022). Since 2025, he has been Professor Emeritus at Kyoto Saga University of Arts.
