Radiant in Full Bloom
Created under the theme of "Kirin, Houoh, Genbu, Seiryu, and the richness of color," this series of kumiko artworks showcases the beauty of traditional Japanese woodworking. Using the natural hues of seven different types of wood, the works meticulously depict cherry blossoms, wisteria, chrysanthemums, and the Four Guardian Beasts. Bridging tradition and the present, the series expresses a wish for peace while celebrating more than 500 years of kumiko craftsmanship and artistry through a contemporary perspective.
Masanobu Shiozawa
Born in Iida, Nagano Prefecture, in 1973, Shiozawa exhibited at the National Joinery Exhibition in 2001, becoming the youngest recipient of the Prime Minister's Award. In 2013, he was selected for the Nitten (Japan Fine Arts Exhibition) for the first time. He regularly holds solo exhibitions at the Ginza Mikimoto Main Store in Tokyo and at leading department stores throughout Japan. In 2019, he received the Contemporary Crafts Award at the Japan Contemporary Crafts Art Exhibition.
